3/30/2018 Water Utility Operator – Doney Park Water

Doney Park Water is a member owned cooperative water utility located on the
East side of Flagstaff Arizona. The Doney Park area spans approximately forty
square miles and is one of the largest suburbs of Flagstaff.
Position Summary: Operates, maintains, services and repairs the water distribution
system and related components.

Essential Job Functions: Operators will work with and without supervision to operate,
inspect, diagnose, and repair wells, booster pumps, mainlines, water meters and
associated equipment. After a training period the operator will be placed into an on-call
rotation and will be expected to respond to emergency situations at any time during the
seven-day rotation. Duties may require working in inclement weather, lifting heavy
objects, using hand tools to locate and repair leaks and damaged pipes and valves.
Daily logs and work orders are completed with accuracy and in a timely manner.
Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from high school or GED. Grade II Water
Distribution Certification issued by the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality or
be able to obtain a grade II through reciprocity if certified by a state other than Arizona.
A valid Arizona driver’s license.

Other Qualifications: These qualifications are desirable but not a requirement.
Arizona class A commercial driver’s license. Backflow Prevention Assembly General
Tester certification. Competent person and confined space training/certification.
Experience with Microsoft, Word, and Excel.

Salary and Benefits: Salary range $46,000 – $64,000 annual depending on
experience and qualifications. Medical, Dental, Vision and Life Insurance. 401K with
5% matching. Working hours are 4-10hr days, Tue-Fri, except during on-call rotation.

Job Description:
Pima Utility is seeking an experienced Water Operator II to join our team. The Water Operator II provides direction to techs and may also perform repair and maintenance on the water system components such as fire hydrants, main line valves, water service lines, water mains, water meters and fittings. May oversee installation of new water services, emergency repairs to water mainlines and services, water system flushing, water quality sampling, flow testing, traffic control, and preventative maintenance activities e.g. valve exercising and fire hydrant inspections. Responsible for issuing BlueStakes, locating and marking underground utilities using maps, blueprints, etc. This position will handle the processing of any MCDOT permit requests and traffic control plans. Responds to customer complaints, investigates leaks, high reads and meter disputes. Maintain an accurate record of current backflow testing and issue reminder notices. Employee will be placed in the on-call rotation after adequate training.

Requirements:
2+ Years experience in Water Distribution.
Minimum Grade II ADEQ Water Distribution Certificate
Required to obtain Grade III within 6 months of employment.
OSHA Competent Person Training
Confined Space Training
Ability to use backhoe and other equipment associated with plant operations
Basic computer knowledge including Microsoft Word and Excel. Familiarity with SCADA systems.
