Drinking Water Seminar This seminar is an overview of measuring systems to help drinking water facilities improve operational control and comply with ever changing regulations. Topics will range from source water through various treatment processes and distribution system monitoring. Participants will gain practical knowledge of the latest approaches for drinking water monitoring.
Wastewater Seminar This seminar will be an interactive workshop emphasizing the on-line and laboratory measurement tools for process and measurement problems which can occur in secondary, advanced, and nutrient removal systems. Discussions will focus on specific case studies of wastewater treatment facilities that have successfully implemented monitoring solutions to solve these problems. Participants will gain practical knowledge of the latest approaches for wastewater monitoring.
Who should attend?
- Operators, Managers, Lab Managers, Directors, Supervisors and Plant managers who want to learn more about how to optimize and streamline their plant operations.
- Regulators, Chemists, Operations and Maintenance, and any staff who work with lab or process instrumentation to learn about the latest solutions to make their job easier.

Offered by: The Arizona Department of Health Services in cooperation with the AZ Water Association, the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality and the Rural Water Association of Arizona.
Date: August 3, 2011
Where: 24 Different Locations - Phoenix, Alpine, Miami, Chandler, Casa Grande, Florence, Kingman, Prescott, Safford, Sierra Vista, Yuma, Cottonwood, Flagstaff, Maricopa, Payson, Rio Rico, Page, Tonopah, Tucson, Munds Parks, Quartzsite, Show Low, and Gila Bend.
Up to 6.5 PDH's will be offered for completion of the training. Partial PDH's may be given.
This training is designed to provide an overview, selected demonstrations (field and in the lab), and discussion of the 6 methods (pH, temperature, dissolved oxygen, turbidity, specific conductivity and ultra low level total residual chlorine) that are required to be performed at the wastewater treatment plant. This is geared towards meeting the compliance requirements for all AZPDES, APP and Reuse permites for ADEQ.
This Operator training class is being provided at no charge
Please note: Due to potential space limitations and to assure all have access, only 1 registration from each organization will be confirmed, until all interested parties have had the opportunity to register. Others are encouraged to register, but will be placed on a waiting list on a 1st come 1st served basis. They will be notified by email after the registration closes.
There will be NO on-site registration

Option #1 – Harmonic Mitigation and Filtering Options
- Passive and Active Filters
- Harmonic Calculation Tools and Software
Option #2 – Drive Operation and Practical Applications
- Closed Loop and Open Loop
- Basic PID and special functions
- VFD Applications on Pump Systems
In partnership with the Rural Water Association of Arizona, we will be offering an opportunity to earn up to six (6) professional development hours (PDH’s) for this seminar.
Morning session only – 3 hours
Afternoon session only – 2 hours
Attend BOTH morning and one afternoon session and the lunch Q&A – 6 hours
