Ed Thomas will provide an overview of the recently published Revised Total Coliform Proposed Rule. The revised rule is more protective of public health and allows water utilities to find and correct a deficiency that could lead to contamination. The final rule is expected to be released in late 2011 but implementation of the new standards will be three years from the final rule publication date.

Jon Mehus will cover the roles of all parties once a contract is awarded and goes into construction. These include the owner, consulting engineer, contractor and funding agency.
Webinar presented by Jon K. Melhus P.E., Senior Civil Engineer, USDA Jon Melhus came to the USDA Rural Development National Office in the Rural Utilities Service Water Program in the spring of 2007. Prior to that Melhus was State Engineer for RD in Minnesota since 2003. Before coming to RD, Melhus was an Engineer with US F&WS in Minneapolis and Portland, OR, an Engineer with US Air Force in Cheyenne, WY and a Soil Scientist with USDA NRCS in NM, MT and CO. Melhus recently returned from a year in Iraq serving as USDA’s Agriculture and Engineering Advisor on the Maysan Provincial Reconstruction Team.
